Homeschool Parent Consent

Version 2026-11-v9 ยท Updated November 2026

In plain English

  • You are the parent or legal guardian of every child you add, and you are 18 or older.
  • Children are known only by an alias you choose. We never ask for names, emails or birthdates.
  • Their writing is used only to give you their results. It is never sold, never used for advertising and never used to train AI.
  • AICT is not counseling or an emergency service. It does not replace qualified professionals, and you stay the person who decides what to do about a concern.
  • It is deleted automatically each semester, and you can delete everything at any time.
  • Your card payment, together with your declaration that you are the parent or guardian, is how we confirm consent. You can withdraw your consent whenever you like.

The full text below is what counts if there is ever a disagreement.

1. Who gives this consent

This consent is between Michael Bauman, trading as AICT Education ("AICT") and you, the parent or legal guardian who creates a Homeschool Family account. By ticking the box you confirm that you are at least 18 years old and are the parent or legal guardian of each child you add, and that you give consent for each of them to use the Service as described here.

2. What the Service does with your children

Your child writes a short reflection before a lesson and after it. An artificial intelligence provider reads the writing to score it, write follow-up questions, and check for signs that your child may need support. You see the result: how your child's thinking moved. Your child sees encouraging written feedback and a small badge, never a score.

3. What information we collect from your children

We do not ask your children for their real name, email address, date of birth, photo, address or location, and children do not create accounts.

4. How the information is used

Only to give you your children's results and keep them safe. We do not sell it, do not use it for advertising, do not build profiles of your children for any other purpose, and do not use it to train AI models. Our AI provider (Anthropic) is bound by its commercial terms not to train on it either, and deletes it within 30 days except as described in the Privacy Policy.

We share it only with the providers that run the Service (listed in the Privacy Policy), which are bound to protect it. We do not disclose it to any other third party. This consent covers collection and use for providing the Service. It does not cover any disclosure for other purposes, and we will ask you separately before ever doing that.

5. How we confirm your consent

Subscribing involves a card payment made through Stripe, which emails you a receipt each time. A card payment in connection with a purchase is one of the ways the FTC accepts for confirming a parent's consent under COPPA, and it is why there is no free trial. We also rely on your declaration that you are the parent or legal guardian of each child. A payment alone does not prove who someone is, so if we cannot rely on it we will use another verification method before collecting a child's information. We never see or store your card number.

Asking for the 30-day refund does not by itself withdraw your consent. The account is locked, nothing more is collected, and you can still delete your children's data. Your consent for the period in which the account was used remains valid.

6. You are the person who sees safety concerns

If your child writes something that may show they need support, we email you (the email never contains the writing) and show it in your dashboard. We do not contact your child or anyone else. The Service is not an emergency service and does not watch your children in real time. In an emergency call 911, or call or text 988 in the US. Flagged writing is deleted 3 days after you open an urgent flag, 7 days for others, and never later than 30 days. Please supervise your children while they use the Service. The Service is not counseling, therapy or professional advice, and it cannot predict or prevent harm. It does not replace qualified professionals. To the fullest extent the law allows, you agree that AICT is not responsible for harm that follows from a concern the Service did not detect, did not flag, or flagged late or wrongly, because of the inherent limits of automated checks. This does not apply to our own gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, a fault in our alert system that we knew about and had not fixed, our breach of our data-protection duties, or anything the law does not allow us to exclude. This section does not waive any independent right or claim your child has, or any right the law does not allow to be waived.

7. Your rights

  • Review: view your children's results in the dashboard, and download a summary, or everything held, for each child.
  • Delete: delete a child's data at any time (it leaves our live systems at once and backups are overwritten within 7 days), or delete your account to delete everything and cancel your subscription.
  • Stop collection: pause the class or delete the account at any time. Withdrawing your consent has no penalty, and you can ask for a refund as set out in the Terms.
  • Ask us: email admin@aict.com.au and a person will reply within 10 business days.

8. How long we keep it

Lesson writing and scores are deleted automatically at the end of each semester (15 January and 1 July). The list of aliases resets once a year, or sooner if you remove one. See the Privacy Policy for everything else.

9. Records and changes

We record that you gave this consent, with the version and the time. If we make a material change to how children's information is handled, we ask for your consent again before it applies.

This consent works together with the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. If they conflict, the one that protects your children's information more applies.
