Terms of Service
Version 2026-11-v9 ยท Updated November 2026
In plain English
- These terms are for teachers and parents who create an account. Students do not have accounts.
- You must be 18 or older. One subscription covers one class.
- Pricing is $9.99 a month or $89 a year per class ($5.99 a month or $59 a year for a homeschool family of up to 5 children). It renews automatically until you cancel. These are early bird prices. Early bird customers keep the price they signed up at while their subscription continues. We reserve the right to raise our prices for later customers as our costs increase.
- Every new subscription has a 30-day, 100% money-back guarantee, once per account. There is no free trial.
- The tool supports your teaching. It does not replace your supervision, and it is not a grade.
- AICT is not counseling, a threat-assessment tool or an emergency service. It does not replace qualified professionals or your school's own safety procedures.
The full text below is what counts if there is ever a disagreement.
1. Who we are and what these terms cover
These Terms of Service (the "Terms") are an agreement between you and Michael Bauman, trading as AICT Education ("AICT", "we", "us"), based in Queensland, Australia. They apply to your use of the AICT website and web application (the "Service"), which gives students a short before-and-after writing check with AI-guided questions and shows the class teacher or parent how thinking moved during a lesson.
"AICT Education" is the trading name of an individual based in Queensland, Australia. We plan to transfer the business to a company in future (see section 13).
By creating an account, creating a classroom or using the Service you accept these Terms. If you do not accept them, please do not use the Service. Our Privacy Policy explains how information is handled, and the Classroom Data Agreement or Homeschool Parent Consent you accept when you create a class explains how student information is handled. Those documents form part of these Terms.
2. Who can use the Service
You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Accounts are for teachers, homeschool parents and legal guardians. Students use the Service through a class link and a teacher-assigned alias, and do not create accounts.
The Service is currently offered to schools and families in the United States.
If you use the Service in a school, you confirm that you are permitted to use it with your students. Many schools require approval of new software, and checking your school's own rules is your responsibility. Creating an account does not by itself mean your school or district has approved AICT or agreed to any school-wide agreement. If your school or district requires its own agreement, a person with authority to sign for it must accept that agreement before student information is entered. If you are a homeschool parent, you confirm that you are the parent or legal guardian of every child on your roster.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your login secure and for everything done under your account. Please do not share your login, including with a substitute teacher or another adult. If someone covers your class, use the class access switch to pause the class, as described in section 7.
Give us accurate information, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account.
4. Classes, subscriptions and billing
Each class is its own classroom with its own class code, roster and subscription. A new class is locked until its subscription is paid. A teacher with several classes uses one account and one payment card for all of them.
| Plan | Monthly | Yearly | What it covers |
|---|---|---|---|
| School class | $9.99 | $89 | One class of up to 40 students |
| Homeschool family | $5.99 | $59 | Up to 5 children |
Prices are in US dollars. Any sales tax that applies is added where the law requires it.
Subscriptions renew automatically each month or year at the then-current price until you cancel. We show the price and renewal terms before you pay, and we email you a receipt after each payment. For yearly plans we also email you a reminder before the renewal date.
You can cancel at any time in Profile, by opening the billing page and choosing cancel. Cancelling stops future charges. The class stays available until the end of the period you have already paid for. You can also email us and we will cancel it for you.
Money-back guarantee. Every new subscription has a 30-day, 100% money-back guarantee. Within 30 days of subscribing you can choose "Get my money back" in Profile. We refund the payment in full, cancel the subscription and lock that class. No form and no questions. The guarantee can be used once per account, not once per class.
If a payment fails, we email you and your class keeps working for a grace period until the end of the current semester, so you can update your card. If the payment is still unpaid after that, the class is locked until it is paid. Your data is not deleted early because of a missed payment.
Early bird price. We may offer early bird prices to our first customers, and we will say so when you subscribe. An early bird customer keeps the price they signed up at for as long as their subscription continues without a break. If an early bird customer cancels and later starts again, the then-current listed price applies. We decide when to stop offering early bird prices. Future prices. We reserve the right to raise our listed prices for new customers at any time, to cover our costs as they increase. The price you pay is the price shown when you subscribe. If we ever need to change a price you are already paying, the new price applies from your next renewal after at least 30 days' written notice, and you can cancel before then.
5. Fair use
To keep the Service affordable for everyone, each school class includes up to 600 student lessons a month, and each homeschool family includes up to 200. A student lesson is one lesson started by one student. A school class roster is limited to 40 students.
We email you when a class reaches 80% of its monthly limit. If it reaches 100%, students are paused until the next month starts, unless you choose a higher-capacity plan, which we will offer in the product. We will never delete a class's data because it reached its limit.
6. What the Service does and does not do
The Service uses artificial intelligence to score short reflections, to write follow-up questions and to check writing for signs that a student may need support. AI can be wrong. Scores describe how a student's writing changed during one lesson. They are not grades, are not a diagnosis or assessment of ability, and should not be the only basis for any grade, placement, discipline or other important decision about a student or a teacher.
The Service is not an emergency service and does not monitor students in real time. Safety checks are automatic and cannot catch everything. In an emergency, call 911. In the United States, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline is available by call or text to 988.
The Service is not counseling, therapy, psychological assessment or professional advice of any kind, and it is not a threat-assessment tool. It cannot predict or prevent self-harm or violence, including violence at a school. It must not be used in place of qualified, human mental-health professionals, school counselors, psychologists, threat-assessment teams or your school's emergency plans. If you are worried about a student, involve those people.
7. Supervision and safety flags
You are responsible for supervising students while they use the Service, and for responding to any safety flag under your school's or family's own procedures. When a student's writing is flagged, we email you. If an urgent flag has not been opened after 24 hours and 72 hours we send reminders. The email never contains the student's writing. You then read it in your dashboard. Email delivery is not guaranteed, so keep your email address up to date, check your dashboard regularly, and do not rely on an email alone.
Flagged writing is deleted automatically after a short retention period (see the Privacy Policy), so you should record what you need under your own procedures, for example by taking a screenshot, straight away.
When you are away, pause the class using the class access switch so students cannot use it while no adult can respond. We do not decide whether a student is safe. The Service only brings writing to your attention so that you can.
7A. What you accept about the limits of the Service
Safety checks look at the writing students choose to enter. The AI can miss a concern, can flag one late, and can flag one that is not real. We built it to help a teacher or parent notice, never to be the only safeguard, and you must not rely on it as the only way to notice or respond to a student's needs. If you think a student may be in immediate danger, use your emergency and safeguarding procedures or call 911 instead of waiting for an alert.
To the fullest extent the law allows, you agree that AICT is not responsible for harm that follows from a concern in a student's writing that the Service did not detect, did not flag, or flagged late or wrongly, because of the inherent limits of automated safety checks described in this section. This does not apply to harm caused by our own gross negligence, willful misconduct or fraud, a fault in our alert system that we knew about and had not fixed, our breach of our data-protection duties, or anything the law does not allow us to exclude.
You are responsible for your own use of the Service. To the extent the law allows, you agree to cover us for reasonable losses and costs from a third-party claim, but only to the extent the claim is caused by your breach of these Terms, your unlawful use of the Service, or your deliberate misuse of student information, for example sharing your login or entering students' real names. This does not apply to the extent the claim is caused by our own breach of contract, negligence, willful misconduct, fraud or violation of law. We will tell you promptly about a claim, and will not settle it in a way that puts obligations on you without your consent.
Nothing in this section waives, releases or limits any independent right or claim belonging to a student or any other person who has not agreed to these Terms. Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits any right or liability that the law does not allow to be excluded or limited.
8. Acceptable use
Use the Service only for genuine teaching and learning with your own students or children. Do not:
- enter real names, contact details or other personal information about a student into aliases or any other field
- copy, resell, sublicense or share the Service, and do not reverse-engineer it or try to extract its scoring method, prompts or code
- try to get around its safety, privacy, billing or fair-use limits
- use it to harm, harass or profile a student, or to evaluate a teacher's performance
- upload anything unlawful or use the Service in a way that could damage it or other people's use of it
- use bots, scrapers, crawlers or AI agents to access the Service or collect anything from it, other than the Service's own features
- probe, scan or test the security of the Service, or try to get into any account, data or system that is not yours, without our written permission
If you think you have found a security problem, please email admin@aict.com.au (our security contact is also listed at /.well-known/security.txt). Please do not test it against other people's accounts or any student data, and give us reasonable time to fix it before telling anyone else.
9. Our property and yours
The Service, including its name, design, software, scoring method and underlying content, belongs to AICT and its licensors. We give you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable right to use it for its intended purpose while your account is active.
Student writing and the scores created from it belong to the student, the family or the school, as the law provides, and not to us. You give us permission to process them only so that we can provide the Service to you, as set out in the Privacy Policy and the Classroom Data Agreement or Homeschool Parent Consent. We do not use student writing to train AI models, we do not let our AI provider use it to train its models, and we do not sell it. Our AI provider deletes what we send it within 30 days, as explained in the Privacy Policy.
If you send us feedback or ideas, we may use them to improve the Service without owing you anything.
10. Availability and third-party services
We work to keep the Service running, but we do not promise it will always be available or error-free. The Service relies on other companies, including for hosting, databases, AI, payments and email (listed in the Privacy Policy). If one of them has an outage or fails, the Service may be slow, wrong or unavailable. We are not responsible for losses caused by an outage or failure of a provider or of the internet that is outside our reasonable control, and we will not charge you for a month in which the Service was unavailable for most of it.
We may update, change or retire features, and will give notice if a change materially reduces what you paid for.
11. Disclaimers and limits on our liability
To the fullest extent the law allows, the Service is provided "as is" and "as available", and we do not give any warranty that it is accurate, uninterrupted, or suited to a particular purpose.
To the fullest extent the law allows, AICT is not liable for indirect, incidental, special or consequential losses, or for lost profits, lost data or loss of teaching time. Our total liability for any claim arising from the Service is limited to the amount you paid us for the affected class in the 12 months before the claim.
Nothing in these Terms excludes or limits liability that cannot be excluded or limited by law, and nothing limits any rights you have as a consumer under the law of your state or country.
12. Ending your account
You can delete your account at any time in Profile. Deleting it cancels your subscriptions, so you are not billed again, and starts permanent deletion of your classrooms, rosters, lessons and flags. They are removed from our live systems straight away, and any copy in our database provider's backups is overwritten within 7 days (see the Privacy Policy). This cannot be undone.
We may suspend or end an account that breaches these Terms, puts students at risk, or does not pay, and will tell you why where we can. If we end your account for reasons other than your breach, we will refund the unused part of what you have paid.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms. For a material change we email you at least 30 days before it takes effect. If you keep using the Service after that date, you accept the update. If you do not accept it, you can cancel and ask for a refund of the unused part of what you have paid.
We may transfer the Service, these Terms and the information held to a company we form to run the Service, or to a buyer of the business. We will tell you in writing before this happens, or within 60 days afterwards if advance notice is not possible. The new owner must accept the same promises about student information that we make here, in writing, before any student information is transferred to it. If you do not want to continue, you can cancel and ask for a refund of the unused part of what you have paid, and ask us to delete your data.
14. Governing law and disputes
These Terms are governed by the laws of Queensland, Australia, except that if you are a consumer in the United States, you also keep the protections of the mandatory consumer laws of your state. Please contact us first so that we can try to resolve any concern informally. Courts in Queensland, Australia, will have non-exclusive jurisdiction, except where the law of your state requires another place. This section does not replace or switch off the US federal and state student-privacy laws that apply to the Service.
